Urban Forest Plan: Manhattan Community Kick-off

Thursday, May 15, 2025

6:00 p.m.8:00 p.m.

New York City is developing its first-ever Urban Forest Plan! In addition to reducing extreme heat, trees manage stormwater, beautify our streets, and reduce air pollution. The Urban Forest Plan will set a vision not only for the care, management, and equitable expansion of the urban forest—which includes all the trees on public and private land in New York City—but also for the ways communities can be involved in the future of the urban forest. That’s why public input is so valuable.

These events are a chance for New Yorkers to:

Share ideas, experiences, recommendations, and questions to inform the Urban Forest Plan’s development

Learn why the City is creating an Urban Forest Plan

Understand the Urban Forest Plan process and timeline

Hear from local organizations about why a healthy tree canopy matters to them

Find ways to get involved in tree stewardship and advocacy in your community
