NYC Urban Forest Plan Manhattan Community Kick-off

New York City is developing its first Urban Forest Plan and we want your ideas, experiences, and recommendations to inform the plan. In addition to reducing extreme heat, trees manage stormwater, beautify our streets, and reduce air pollution. The Urban Forest Plan will create a vision not only for the care, management, and equitable expansion of the urban forest—which includes all the trees on public and private land in New York City—but also for the ways communities can be involved in the future of the urban forest. That’s why your input is so valuable.

Hosted by the Mayor's Office of Climate & Environmental Justice, City Parks Foundation, Partnerships for Parks, NYC Parks, Natural Areas Conservancy, and The Nature Conservancy, these events are a chance for New Yorkers to:

  • Learn why the City is creating an Urban Forest Plan
  • Understand the Urban Forest Plan process and timeline
  • Share ideas, experiences, recommendations, and questions to inform the Urban Forest Plan’s development
  • Hear from local organizations about why a healthy tree canopy matters
  • Find ways to get involved in tree stewardship and advocacy
