Volunteer Workday: Citizens for a Better Community Garden
Saturday, April 12, 2025
10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
GreenThumb community gardens are developed, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces.
Citizens for a Better Community Garden supports and sustains a diverse group of families and individuals year after year. The garden has over 30 food-producing plots, a shaded seating area, and a perennial landscape. During this volunteer day, participants will engage in meaningful, hands-on projects, such as filling new raised beds with soil and disassembling well-used plant structures. This is a great opportunity for those interested in getting involved with a community garden! Bring water, snacks, and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Please note that some activities may involve lifting heavy material and moving, bending, and squatting for long periods.

Groups of 10 or more can sign up by contacting the volunteer coordinator at Kyleen.Sanchez@parks.nyc.gov.
This event is co-hosted by NYC Parks GreenThumb. We are proud to be the nation’s largest urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
