Volunteer Workday: Clayton Williams Garden
Saturday, January 18, 2025
10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
GreenThumb community gardens are developed, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces.
Clayton Williams Garden has been enriching the Harlem community with a beautiful green space for years, with some families having multiple generations of members! This volunteer day is a wonderful opportunity to help strengthen the garden’s legacy and support its community vision. Interested in becoming a garden member? This is the perfect time to join, as the garden is looking to expand its membership!
Participants will take part in a variety of garden maintenance tasks, including cleaning up debris and spreading mulch, all in preparation for the upcoming growing season. Please bring water, snacks, and wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Keep in mind that some tasks may involve lifting heavy materials, as well as bending, squatting, and moving for extended periods.

Groups of 5 or more can sign up by contacting the volunteer coordinator at Kyleen.Sanchez@parks.nyc.gov.
This event is co-hosted by NYC Parks GreenThumb. We are proud to be the nation’s largest urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
