Art Exhibition & Poetry Reading: "City. Like grain, you grew from the Deep Sea"

Saturday, October 12, 2024

2:00 p.m.7:00 p.m.

Join the garden group for a special day at 6BC Botanical Garden for “City. Like grain, you grew from the Deep Sea”. This curated exhibition by Sarah Viviana Valdez, showcasing the works of 15 artists in the beautiful setting of the 6BC Botanical Garden.

Come immerse yourself in a day of art and nature. This unique exhibition features an array of sculptures, drawings, and paintings that explore common themes of mythology and nature's expressive storytelling. Just as the title suggests, echoing the sentiment that “over your city, grass will grow,” each artist shares a deep affinity for the notion that, despite urban facades, life continues to thrive and flourish.

As the sun begins to set, we will conclude the evening with poetry readings at 5:00 p.m., featuring: Zoe Brezsny, Jen Fisher, Caroline Schub, and Roger van Voorhees. Join us in celebrating the intricate bond between art, nature, and community in this botanical oasis, rich with history and dedication. It promises to be a day of delight and inspiration as we witness the unfolding narratives of these artworks.

Featured Artists: Carbon Anderson, Diana Brisca, Ori Carlin, Jeremiah M. Carter, Josh Feigin, Ryan Foerster, Izzy Leung, Erin Lingard, Eva M. Nelson, Robert Pawliczek, Tayla Roberge, Mallie Sanford, Rbt. Sps,. Sarah Viviana Valdez, and Roger van Voorhees.

The garden group can't wait to share this special day with friends, the New York City public, and art enthusiasts alike. Come and experience the magic of art blooming in the heart of the city!
