Friday, May 2, 2025

10:00 a.m.1:00 p.m.

Join the Greenbelt Native Plant Center’s Seed Increase Program (SIP) to help maintain the production plots in our Staten Island farm fields. The Seed Increase Program propagates and grows plots of plants from locally sourced populations for ecological restoration projects across the city. We will be preparing the plots for spring and fall planting. Additional tasks include plots weeding, spreading mulch, and cutting back last year’s growth. Tools will be provided. No prior knowledge about plants or farming is required. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Space is limited and registration is required. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. To sign up a group of 10 or more volunteers please reach out to stewardship@parks.nyc.gov.
