Highland Park Christmas Bird Count

Join the nation’s longest running community science project and help collect data for the Christmas Bird Count in Queens. Started on Christmas Day back in 1900, this long term, national data set is providing a picture of how bird populations are changing over time and space. It is also an opportunity to enjoy the diversity of bird species which overwinter in NYC.
Program is appropriate for all skill levels--beginner to advanced birders are welcome. Please bring your own binoculars. Program is rain or shine. Please dress appropriate for the weather. Pre-registration is required. Registration closes on Thursday December 12.
Accessibility: Slow pace walk, estimated distance 1-2 miles. Group will be traveling through the park on grassy lawns or paved paths, stairs, or ramps. If needed, there are opportunities for small groups to sit in locations to collect data.
