New York City’s Urban Forest
Our street trees are living breathing parts of our communities (though they often go unnoticed). They bring us shade in the warm months, shield us from the cold in the winter, and provide fresh air for us to breathe all year long. To better grow and protect our urban forest it is important to get acquainted with your NYC trees.
Tree Services
NYC Parks provides a variety of tree and sidewalk-related services to New York City, including street tree planting, sidewalk repair, tree removal, and more. If you know your service type and would like to submit a request, please use our online forestry service request system to do so.

Great Trees of New York City
Since 1985, the City has led a search for heritage trees that together, help tell the story of New York City's urban forest. The selected trees have unusual historic, botanical, and cultural significance. In 2024, we expanded the reach of the Great Tree initiative, honoring the next generation of Great Trees.
