Historic New York: Gerritsen Creek

Learn about the history of the Gerritsen Creek wetlands and a 17th century, tide-powered mill that no longer stands, but once existed in this coastal region of Brooklyn. From a hunting ground to dumping ground for subway tunnel excavation, the vital ecosystem of the Marine Park salt marsh has a rich history to be explored.

Paerdegat Basin Park
Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City.
