Mid-Winter Break: Blast Off- Discovering Space and Black History

This event repeats every day between 2/18/2025 and 2/20/2025.

We’d like to invite your child to join us for our Free Blast Off: Discovering Space and Black History at the Idlewild Environmental Learning Center during mid-winter break!  

They will explore the solar system, stars, and the future of space and learn of the contributions of Black scientists and astronauts through fun activities, experiments, and games. 

 Dates: February 18–20, 2025 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
 Time: 10:00 AM–2:00 PM each day
 Location: Idlewild Environmental Center, 222-02 149th Avenue, Springfield Gardens, NY 11413  

Reminder: Please bring your own snacks and lunch for the day.

Paerdegat Basin Park
Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City.

Ecology Park is only open at certain times of year when Parks staff are present in order to protect this unique landscape. Want to visit? Check out our Stewardship Projects page for restoration, planting, and educational events.
