Idlewild Martin Luther King Jr. Day Trail Work

Join the Eastern Queens Alliance and NYC Parks Stewardship as we celebrate the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Idlewild Park and work to maintain Idlewild's trails! Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long sleeves, long pants and clothing that can both get dirty and keep you warm. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone. This event has been funded in part by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. To sign-up a group of 10 or more volunteers, please reach out to stewardship@parks.nyc.gov.

Paerdegat Basin Park
Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City.

Ecology Park is only open at certain times of year when Parks staff are present in order to protect this unique landscape. Want to visit? Check out our Stewardship Projects page for restoration, planting, and educational events.
