In 1979, Gladys Warren founded the Hollis Local Development Corporation, a civic group aiming to preserve small businesses on Hollis Avenue, prevent residential overdevelopment, and combat crime in the neighborhood. The park is maintained by volunteers from the Hollis Local Development Corporation, and members of Warren’s family.
