Gladys Warren Triangle

Gladys Warren Triangle

This text is part of Parks’ Historical Signs Project and can be found posted within the park.

Gladys Warren Triangle is an unfenced parcel of neatly-trimmed lawn ringed by sidewalk trees and a tall evergreen in its center and is bounded by 104th Avenue, 194th Street, and Hollis Avenue. This small site was deeded to the city for park purposes in 1947 and was assigned to NYC Parks in 1950.

In 1979, Gladys Warren founded the Hollis Local Development Corporation, a civic group aiming to preserve small businesses on Hollis Avenue, prevent residential overdevelopment, and combat crime in the neighborhood. The park is maintained by volunteers from the Hollis Local Development Corporation, and members of Warren’s family.
