Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe today joined more than 120 fleet vendors at the 20th Annual Fleet Show at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Parks’ award-winning “Green Fleet” was on display.
“The Parks Department is ‘New York’s Greenest’ – from the vehicles we use to the trees we plant,” said Commissioner Benepe. “For years, the Fleet Show has been where it all started from building relationships with companies that pilot alternative fuel and exposing the City to the most recent and innovative vehicle technologies.”
Earlier this month, the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) recognized Parks’ 2,300 vehicle team as the most environmentally friendly in the country. The Parks Fleet has also been featured in Government Fleet magazine and the national Parks & Recreation magazine. Parks vehicles are run on an array of alternative fuels from soybean-based biodiesel to solar energy.
More than 120 vendors showcased their equipment and vehicles from a variety of industries, including cars, trucks, vehicle repair, horticultural equipment, clean energy alternatives, emergency management, marinas and more. Alternative fuel and low emissions vehicles and equipment were featured at the show. Vendors included General Motors, BP Sales, Going Coastal and Big Belly Solar.
