COWS PARADE TO THE AUCTION BLOCK FOR CHARITY
The CowParade, the outdoor exhibit of bovine art that has placed more than 500 life-size, painted fiberglass cows throughout the five boroughs, has been enchanting New Yorkers all summer. But the cows will soon be moving on to greener pastures at an upcoming charity auction, helping to raise money for a variety of important organizations. At a press conference at City Hall on Wednesday, August 23, Mayor Rudolph (Eagle) Giuliani and Parks Commissioner Henry J. (StarQuest) Stern were joined by Jerome (Cow Parade) Elbaum, President of Cow Parade Holdings, and Michael McGinnis, Contemporary Art Director for Phillips Auctioneers, to announce the auction. Phillips Auctioneers will be donating their services for the auction, to be held at Cipriani's at 42nd St. on September 28. Many of the creative cows will be raising money for such worthy foundations like Hale House, God's Love We Deliver, Citymeals-on-Wheels, New Yorkers for Children, and The Center for Arts Education. The auction will also benefit the City Parks Foundation, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving our parks and playgrounds citywide.
FAREWELL TO IVORY
Today is Bradley (Ivory) Tusk's last day at Parks. Ivory began his career at Parks in 1995 in the press office, and for the past year he has served as Senior Advisor to the Commissioner, responsible for many initiatives including the leash law, the website redesign, and the litter initiative. He will be working for Senator Chuck (Watchman) Schumer. We wish him well.
