How We Select Tree Planting Sites

Through the neighborhood tree planting program, we plant street trees everywhere we are able. During the inspection process, our foresters will identify and pursue all planting opportunities on a block. We plant new trees where there are dead trees or stumps, and close all unplantable tree beds to mitigate tripping hazards. 

Each season we provide a tentative list of addresses in front of which new street tree plantings are scheduled. Because tree plantings may be delayed by weather or other unforeseen events, we're unable to provide an exact planting date.

All plantings are within the City-owned public right-of-way. Since street tree plantings occur on the public right-of-way, nearby homeowners may not reject planting at any such location. To learn more, please visit our Street Tree Planting page.

This dataset tracks young trees that have been planted over the past six months, as well as trees that are scheduled to be planted.
