Shalane Flanagan impressed with her second-place finish in the first marathon she ever competed in. It was the best finish for an American woman in the NYC Marathon in twenty years. Flanagan finished third in the 10,000m race in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and will compete in London in summer 2012.
