Ping-Pong, Mount Morris Park
Courtesy of New York City Parks Photo Archive, Neg. 22284. Children play ping pong at the then recently built athletic facility in Mount Morris Park (now known as Marcus Garvey Park). This appears to be an elimination round in the New York Community Trust's Spring Sports Tournament (note the tourney poster on the wall), in which the ping pong finals took place a few days later on May 1. Over twenty thousand boys and girls, between the ages of 12 and 18, took part in the tournament, which was held in thirteen sports at numerous parks and recreation facilities citywide.
