Sohncke Square

Woodside Ave., 58 St., Roosevelt Ave.

Queens

Directions via Google Maps

This small plaza in Woodside, Queens, was opened in April 1922 and named after Sergeant Carl R. Sohncke, a local veteran who was killed in action in France during World War I. A 2024 renovation restored this town square for residents and commuters, who can relax near this busy transportation hub or dine out at one of the bistro-style outdoor tables. The park comes alive during the holiday season, as a tree and festive display of lights are placed in the park as part of a neighborhood tradition.
