NYC PARKS ISSUES REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR ICE SKATING RINK AND/OR WINTER ACTIVITIES AT MCCARREN PARK POOL
NYC Parks announces that a Request for Expressions of Interest (“RFEI”) has been issued for the operation of an ice skating rink and/or for winter activities at McCarren Park Pool seasonally from October through March and at other times approved by Parks, Solicitation # B58-EX.
“In recent years, McCarren Park has emerged as an increasingly popular park for the enjoyment of Northern Brooklyn locals, residents from across New York City, and visitors,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP. “Its recently renovated pool area has the potential to serve as a true year-round destination and NYC Parks is seeking ideas for programming, amenities and events that will enhance the site during the winter months, while improving the quality of life for the surrounding community.”
This RFEI seeks varied proposals for the McCarren Park Pool site’s activation from October through March. Proposed operations for an ice skating rink or other events, services, programming and concessions, should appeal to a wide variety of audiences. Ideas for an ice skating rink may include varied layouts and sizes, be open or enclosed, include provisions for general skating, figure skating, ice hockey, skate rentals, and/or a pro shop. Ideas for additional concepts for the site include holiday markets, craft fairs, food fairs, concert/film/theater/dance series, restaurants/cafés/snack bars, public art installations, and/or Christmas tree sales. Such ideas are meant to provide general concepts and are in no way exhaustive or restrictive. If upon review by Parks, a new concession idea appears to be feasible, appropriate and advantageous to the City, Parks will then consider beginning the solicitation concession process through the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP).
All proposals for this RFEI must be submitted no later than Friday, December 18 at 3:00 p.m. Parks will hold a recommended meeting and site-tour on Monday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at the proposed concession site, which is located on Lorimer Street between Driggs Avenue and Bayard Street in McCarren Park, Brooklyn. All interested parties considering responding to this RFEI are encouraged to attend this recommended meeting and site tour.
Hard copies of the RFEI can be obtained, through Friday, December 18, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays, at the Revenue Division of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, which is located at 830 Fifth Avenue, Room 407, New York, NY 10065.
The RFEI is also available for download through Friday, December 18, on Parks’ website. To download the RFEI, visit www.nyc.gov/parks/businessopportunities and, after logging in, click on the “download” link that appears adjacent to the RFEI’s description.
