Historic House Trust Festival
The Historic House Trust of New York City is celebrating its third annual Historic House Festival, September 24-26, 2010, at all 23 historic houses in its collection, sponsored by Con Edison and the History Channel. This year’s Festival, A Moveable Feast, will celebrate the culinary history of and contemporary food trends in New York City. Be sure to bring your appetite for history!
Chess-in-the-Parks Rapid Open
Enjoy a day of competitive chess at the tenth annual tournament at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A grandmaster will be there to play with challengers throughout the day, and there will also be chess puzzles for kids. Prizes will be offered to tournament competitors, including chess sets, trophies, and medals. All ages and skill levels are welcome to register.
