FOREST PARK 35th ANNUAL PARK FAIR
It's fun for the whole family! Raffles, games, and nature walks will be hosted in Queen’s Forest Park by the Urban Park Rangers on Saturday, September 6. Meet at the Buddy Monument at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Park Lane South.
RICHMOND COUNTY FAIR
Join in the festivities, entertainment, fabulous food, contests, crafts, exhibits, shopping, and living history demonstrations that are the best in New York City. The fun begins Friday evening with exciting amusement rides and a free family movie at 8:00 p.m. The fair runs on Saturday, September 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will be featuring Flying Trapeze act, Robinson's Racing Pigs, pony rides, and the Skin & Bones Comedy Circus. Visit Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego at the Time Warner Cable booth. Entertainment included with admission includes "Beatlemania," one of the best Beatles cover bands around. You'll hear and see other great entertainment by SteveSongs, the Nashville Attitude, Vito Picone and the Elegants, Live Music by Paris--and many more! NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN: MOORE IN AMERICA
Experience this landmark exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed sculptor Henry Moore and the first major single-venue outdoor installation of the artist's work in the United States. GREAT JAZZ ON THE GREAT HILL
This event has moved to an indoor location due to weather, but is the same fun, family event! Great Jazz on the Great Hill will take place on Saturday, September 6, from 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. in Hosack Hall, at The New York Academy of Medicine, located on 103rd Street and Fifth Avenue (enter at 103rd Street). Doors open at 1:00 p.m. - come early; seats are limited! Join us for a family swing dance workshop with Clyde Wilder at 1:00 p.m. and then enjoy a groovy afternoon of jazz music beginning at 2:00 p.m. Musical performances by the Jimmy Heath Big Band, the Wycliffe Gordon Septet, the Akiko Tsuruga Quartet, Alexis Cole, and more. CELEBRATE GRANDPARENTS’ DAY
Sunday, September 7 is Grandparents’ Day! Started in 1978, the goal of this nationally recognized day is to educate the young in the community about the important contributions senior citizens have made. What better way to spend time with grandma and grandpa than to bring them on a leisurely stroll on the Marine Park nature trail, led by an Urban Park Ranger.
