This Weekend In Parks

Will anyone spot a red-tailed hawk at this year’s Bird Count?

111th Annual Central Park Christmas Bird Count
Birds on the brain? Join us in New York City’s parks for this annual nationwide celebration of birding. Whether it’s your first time or you’re an avid birder, come help log the birds that can be spotted in the park. Christmas Bird Counts will be held throughout the city this weekend, including at Prospect Park and Fort Greene Park. In Central Park, the bird count will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday, and you’ll be able to get refreshments while the final tally is counted at 12:30. Remember: dress warmly, and don’t forget your binoculars!

Caribbean Christmas in Crotona Park
Come out of the cold on Saturday from 4:30-7:30 and celebrate a Caribbean-style Christmas with a steel drum band, cookies and hot chocolate, pictures with Santa Claus, stilt walkers, and lots of fun holiday cheer! This free event is sponsored by the U.S. Virgin Islands Association, and everyone is welcome to come and join the fun!
