Bartel-Pritchard Square

Bartel-Pritchard Square is a traffic circle located at the southwest entrance to Prospect Park. For much of its history, it has served as a war memorial and a tribute to two close friends, Emil Bartel and William Pritchard, who died in combat in France during World War I.

Inside the park, a horticultural bed and pairs of benches face the Bartel-Pritchard Square War Memorial. This polished black granite monument was dedicated in 1965 to honor all the soldiers in the community who gave their lives for the country. Its inscription reads, "For Valor and Sacrifice."
