Make a Donation in Honor: Adopt a Bench, Dedicate a Tree

Gold bow tied on a park bench

Looking for a way to honor a loved one or celebrate a special occasion? Make a contribution to NYC Parks in the name of someone special! You can give towards a park project, a bench adoption, or a tree planting. To make a general donation to NYC Parks, please visit our Make a Donation page.

Adopt a Bench

Give a meaningful, green gift with Adopt-a-Bench. Share a birthday wish, honor an important community member or beloved pet, make a marriage proposal, or remember other special occasions!

As part of your bench adoption, we’ll install a plaque engraved with a personal message on the bench, and maintain it for the next 10 years.

Benches are available in all boroughs. Submit an inquiry on the Adopt a Bench form with your preferred park or neighborhood for more information. Your contributions are tax-deductible, and matching gifts are accepted.

Certain parks, including Central Park and Bryant Park, are managed by local conservancies which oversee these bench adoption programs.

Dedicate a Tree

Plant a new tree in a park or on a street in honor of a loved one. Our Forestry Division will help you select a location and tree species. You can also make a donation to have a Tree Guard with an engraved plaque installed around a street tree bed. Your donation supports tree guards, tree planting, and sidewalk repair. Call (718) 361-8101 or email TreeTime@parks.nyc.gov to learn more.

Donations are Tax-Deductible

The City Parks Foundation is the not–for–profit partner of the City of New York/NYC Parks and is the fiscal sponsor for our online donations. City Parks Foundation is a tax-exempt organization and under section 501(c)(3) of the federal tax code, so your contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. City Parks Foundation will be named as the donation recipient on your statement.
