Activations with Choreographer Gillian WalshGymnasium Description: In partnership with Dia Art Foundation, artist and choreographer Gillian Walsh will lead a 5-week course exploring a contemplative approach to dancing. Through embodiment, listening, and movement exercises, participants will work towards creating a collective choreography. The program will culminate with a public presentation on November 16 on the soccer field of nearby Chelsea Park. No movement experience is necessary. Goalball Open AccessGymnasium Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. Participants try to throw a ball that has bells embedded in it into the opponents' goal. The ball is thrown by hand and never kicked. Using ear-hand coordination, originating as a rehabilitation exercise, the sport has no able-bodied equivalent. Able-bodied athletes are also blindfolded when playing this sport.
