20th Annual Wreath Interpretations Exhibition

Creative spirits of many professional creeds, including artists, landscape architects, and historic preservationists, have designed more than 25 non-traditional wreaths for this annual holiday exhibition. All of the wreath designs on display in Central Park's historic Arsenal Gallery were made using unusual materials such as forged metal, old photography equipment, and handmade fused glass.

The Green I See: Portraits In New York City Parks

The Arsenal Gallery is pleased to showcase the documentary works of Parks photographer Spencer T Tucker. Over the past two years, Mr.Tucker has recorded thousands of images while working as a staff photographer for the New York City's Parks Department. In The Green I See, Mr. Tucker has assembled 44 large-format vibrant color portraits which represent the cross-section of New Yorkers who use its green spaces.

Aperture at 50: A Celebration of Photography

Aperture, the world-renowned publisher of photography, is marking its 50th anniversary this October with a multi-site citywide exhibition. The Arsenal Gallery is proud to present a preview exhibition for one month of 23 images from some of the finest contemporary photographers of our time. The photographic selections at the Arsenal will highlight the natural world, parks, and children at play.

Queens Jewels: A History of Queens Parks

Parks & Recreation is proud to present Queens Jewels: A History of Queens Parks. The exhibition, with an accompanying 16-page guide, examines the regal history and highlights of Queens Parks. The exhibit features more than 70 archival and contemporary photographs, as well vintage postcards, historic renderings, artifacts and memorabilia.

Healing Nature of Art

Parks newest multimedia exhibition, The Healing Nature of Art, explores themes of art and nature in the context of healing. All of the works included in this presentation were created by current students, faculty, and alumni from the School of Visual Arts' Art Therapy Department, as well as some of their clients.

Fragments & Fixtures by Beth Lauren

Parks is pleased to present the photographs of Beth Lauren. Thirty black and white images bring into focus architectural details found in New York City and its parks.

Reframing the Past: New York Women and Historic Preservation

In honor of Women's History Month, Parks and the Historic House Trust of New York City present Reframing the Past: New York Women and Historic Preservation. This exhibit uses contemporary and historic photographs to illustrate how women have played a crucial role in the history and preservation of the Trust's 20 historic houses.

Parks' Ebony Society's Black History Committee presents the Arsenal Gallery's annual art exhibit in honor of Black History Month.

Mapmaker, Mapmaker, Make Me a Map

From the beautifully hand drawn maps of the 19th century to the colorful Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-produced maps of today, this exhibit tells the history of parks expansion and improvement efforts. Some of the most current maps included in the show were produced by Parks staffers to assist in the rescue and clean-up effort at Ground Zero.
