Parks & Representations: West Side Arts Coalition and the parks, monument and malls of New York City
West Side Arts Coalition (WSAC) presents "Parks, Monuments & Malls of New York City." Parks scenes and personal moments are captured in the artists' renderings inspired by well known sites in Central Park and secret nooks and crannies that the artists discovered for themselves in other parks.
The exhibiting artists are members of WSAC, an organization founded in 1979 as a support group for neighborhood artists. WSAC operates out of a Parks & Recreation facility, The Broadway Mall Community Center, on the Broadway Malls at 96th Street. For over 20 years, they have used that space to present exhibitions of fine arts, craft arts and photography, as well as monthly poetry readings. This group exhibit of 26 diverse artists explores their unique view of New York City's Parks and how it is translated into beautiful works of art.
