Paddle, Climb And More At Adventures Nyc 2009

DATE: Saturday, August 29th, 2009

LOCATION: Central Park, Enter at 72nd Street, Manhattan

EVENT & PHOTO-OP: Thousands of New Yorkers will take to the great outdoors at Adventures NYC, a one-day event in Central Park that creates the largest FREE outdoor sports area in the City.

DETAILS: Join Parks, Backpacker Magazine and Victorinox Swiss Army as they bring rock climbing at the JetBlue Climbing Zone and paddling at the Wilderness System and Eastern Mountain Sports Kayaking Center, fishing, yoga, arts & crafts and more outdoor fun in the heart of Manhattan!

Check out the Victorinox Swiss Army Culinary Cooking Challenge as the country’s most renowned chefs face off to test their culinary survival skills. The Skyriders are back for some high-flying trampoline stunts and see a live performance by the Stomp-inspired Streetbeats Group. Head over to the event on your bike and leave it at the Transportation Alternatives bike valet for free! The NYC Department of Transportation is also giving away free bicycle helmets (participant must be present to receive helmet). Go green by bringing your reusable water bottle to refill with award-winning NYC water thanks to the NYC Department of Environmental Protection.
