Album Description:

On May 24, 2013, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Parks Commissioner Veronica White officially opened all 14 miles of New York City’s beaches for the 2013 season. In the seven months since Hurricane Sandy, these eight beaches underwent a $270 million-plus restoration to open them this summer, creating new access, making them more resilient and better protected. This gallery represents all the hard work and dedication on the part of NYC Parks, partner agencies, and thousands of volunteers in restoring the City's beaches for the 2013 summer season.
