On August 29, 2012, Parks Photographer Daniel Avila visited Gertrude Ederle Recreation Center (formerly Recreation Center 59) for a sneak preview of the reconstructed and expanded facility, set to open in 2013. Although work was not yet finished on the center at the time, the stellar design of the exposed brick walls and the crisp and clean fitness and game rooms was already apparent. Take a tour of the new facility, and join it and 34 other recreational facilities for the low-cost price of only $150 a year (less for seniors and free for youth).
