On July 11, 2011, NYC Parks and the Department of Environmental Protection completed the restoration of Oakland Lake Park in Queens. The restoration restored the ecological health of Oakland Lake Park, which endured many years of stormwater runoff that caused erosion and significant sediment and debris build up. It also brings new recreational opportunities to residents, improves the wildlife and natural habitat of the park, and allows residents access to the shoreline.
