Dozens of kayaks, 70 canoes, and 170 paddlers participated in the Amazing Bronx River Flotilla on May 5, 2012. Paddlers made their way, aided by volunteers from multiple organizations, from Shoelace Park to Concrete Plant Park. The Flotilla, sponsored by the Bronx River Alliance in conjunction with NYC Parks, is held to raise awareness of NYC's only freshwater river which flows through the Bronx. Now in its 13th year The Flotilla is the Bronx River's Alliance's most popular event.
