New Basketball Courts Complete At Tompkins Square Park
NYC Parks, in partnership with YouTube, is pleased to announce the completion of the newly restored basketball courts at Tompkins Square Park, E. 10th Street and Avenue B.
The refurbishment of the courts included new structural framework, upgraded backboards and rims, sealed uniform asphalt overlay and a fresh painting of the courts and lines.
Two full courts have been completely restored as well as two additional half courts that received new backboards and rims.
The courts were reopened to the public immediately upon completion of the work on Saturday evening, August 8.
This is the first renovation of the basketball courts since their original construction in 1992. This renovation was made possible through generous funding provided by YouTube.
