Parks Commissioner Henry J. Stern named this triangle on July 21, 1997, after nearby Borden and Jay Streets. How do Borden and Jay equal CowbirdΑ Think about this play on words before moving to the next paragraph.

Borden Street was named after the Borden Milk Company, which at one time had a plant here. Hence, the cow. And Jay Street, can, of course, refer to the avian family Corvidae, which includes not only jays but crows, ravens, and magpies; hence, the bird. Jays are usually smaller and brightly colored than other members of the family, often sporting crests. And though they tend to be woodland birds, many species of jay have become urbanized and live in city parks.
