This natural area is a boon for local birders and hikers. Visitors can hike through the oak forest or enter through the Greaves Avenue expanse towards a central swamp, which is home to herons, egrets, and many other birds. The park honors Firefighter Christopher John Siedenburg, a dedicated Staten Island fireman who lost his life in 1994 at the age of 25.
