Remsen Family Cemetery

Trotting Course La., Alderton St.

Queens

Directions via Google Maps

This small park is the former burial ground of the Remsen Family, one of the earliest settlers of this neighborhood. After immigrating from Germany in the 17th century, this area became their family farm. Revolutionary War veteran Colonel Jeromus Remsen and members of his family are buried here. After conservation efforts in the 1980s, this site was designated a historic landmark and is now used as a memorial and as public space. A small garden named for Thomas X. Winberry marks the public area.

This map is designed to represent parks as they are used by the public. It should not be used to represent the legal boundaries of property under Parks jurisdiction. If you would like to view all City property under the jurisdiction of NYC Parks, please visit NYC OpenData.
