NYC PARKS’ OCEAN BREEZE ATHLETIC COMPLEX ANNOUNCES 2022-‘23 INDOOR TRACK & FIELD SCHEDULE

Ocean Breeze to host International Invitational for first time during 2022-‘23 season

NYC Parks today announced the 2022-‘23 Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Track & Field schedule for cross country and indoor meets. This year, for the first-time ever, the facility will host the International Invitational and the world’s best track & field athletes.

In its eighth season, Ocean Breeze boasts five national indoor track & field records set at the facility during the 2021-‘22 season. This season’s schedule showcases a wide variety of marquee youth and elite track meets.

*Since its inception, the Ocean Breeze Invitational has grown into one of the largest indoor meets in the country and is the largest one-day competition for girls in the United States.

**The 2022 Ocean Breeze Elite Invitational was highlighted by Juliette Whittaker and Carter Cukerstein, who set the high school national record in the 1000m (2:39.41) and the New York State Record in the 60m dash (6.71), respectively.

***During the 2022 Championships, 11 New York number one times were set along with five meet records.

As it has done in years past, Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex welcomes the elite runners of the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 6, as they warmup at the athletic complex prior to hitting the streets of the five boroughs.

In addition to the 2022-‘23 schedule, Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will host free community programs, including the popular Miles Mania, beginning Thursday, January 5 through March 16—happening every other Thursday. NYC Parks’ Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is a 135,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art indoor track & field facility in Staten Island. The first indoor facility in the United States to be recognized as a certified International Association of Athletics Federations facility, Ocean Breeze has hosted 18 major championships, including five National Championships since opening in 2015. The complex also serves as a community resource, offering recreational and athletic amenities to Staten Islanders.
