Formerly RSVP Playground (an abbreviation for Riverdale, Snediker, and Van Sinderen Playground), this playground was renamed in 1998 in honor of the lion, an animal long celebrated as the “King of Beasts” for its awe-inspiring power and beauty. Lions are known for their fiercely close-knit social grouping, called a pride.

The playground includes yellow play equipment evoking a lion’s golden mane and a lion water basin and a lion’s head steel drum, as well as an adult fitness area and a basketball court.
