Mere blocks from one of the busiest transit exchanges in the city is a quiet respite. Gateway Park is aptly named, as it welcomes visitors as a gateway to Downtown Jamaica. Part of the Atlantic Avenue extension project, these three plazas help ease traffic while providing beautiful amenities for Jamaica residents. One section of this park is a shaded area with seating and open space, while across Atlantic Avenue, there is a children's playground filled with climbing features and slides, and a rainbow spray shower feature for hotter days during the summer. The park, which opened July 2020, is perfect for children ages 5-12, and for people looking for a place to relax away from the bustle of Downtown Jamaica.
