This Siberian elm is a central focus of Fort Tryon Park's magical Heather Garden, a three-acre garden that changes with the seasons with colorful annual plants and dozens of varieties of heaths and heathers. From the east of this tree, observers can look from under its canopy across the Hudson River to the Palisades. At sunset, this view is one of the most striking in all of New York City.

GinkgoSouth end of the Cloisters Lawn

With its fan shaped leaves and golden fall hue, this ginkgo is a beacon of joy for the Inwood and Washington Heights communities. Countless picnics, birthday parties, holidays and other celebrations have been spent under this tree, a prominent fixture on the Cloisters Lawn. From under this tree, you can look west across the Hudson to the Palisades, and also see the George Washington Bridge to the south.
