Cooper Triangle, as with The Cooper Union next door, is named for industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper. The centerpiece of the triangle is a monument to Cooper created by two of the 19th century's most famous figures, sculptor Augustus St. Gaudens and architect Stanford White. Benches and plantings surround the remainder of the open plaza.
