AccessibilityCanal Park in Lower Manhattan is a historic open space restored and returned to the community in 2005 after spending nearly 80 years as a construction site and parking lot. The park features a design inspired by the famous landscape architects Calvert Vaux and Samuel Parsons, Jr., who planned the park in 1888 with a distinctive central pathway. This pathway is complemented by green lawns, evergreen and flowering plants, cobblestone street tree planting strips, distinctive tree guards and custom cast-iron bollards to enhance the landscape.
