On Friday, August 1, Parks will wrap up its storytelling sessions in Broad Channel Park after four weeks of morning reading and fun. This week will be the last chance to hear a story read by Broad Channel Librarian Carol Scheper and enjoy snacks and crafts in this outdoor setting.

“Storytelling in Broad Channel Park is a wonderful opportunity for kids and families to get outside for learning and fun,” said Queens Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski. “Librarian Scheper provides an entertaining reading that all can enjoy and we thank her for her time this summer in the park.”

Broad Channel Librarian Scheper read various popular children’s books, including “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Joffe Numeroff and “Caps for Sale” by Esphyr Slobodkina. The Queens Recreation Team and Urban Park Rangers provided games and snacks for a steady crowd of almost 60 kids each week.

Broad Channel Park is located on the Cross Bay Parkway between the Broad Channel waterway and 20th Road. The park lies within the neighborhood of Broad Channel, the only island community in Jamaica Bay.
