If you want to get over the hump, bring your children to Banneker Playground, where a climbable camel greets you as you enter the park. This playground shares a block with the nearby P.S. 256, the Benjamin Banneker School, and both facilities are named for the famous African-American writer and mathematician. The rest of the park includes play equipment, swings, an asphalt yard, a basketball court, and handball courts, making it an excellent place for kids and teens and a complement to the larger Herbert Von King Park located across the street.
