Parks Issues Request For Proposals For Ice Skating Rink At Van Cortlandt Park

Parks & Recreation announces that a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) has been issued for the Development, Operation, and Maintenance of a Seasonal Ice Rink at Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, Solicitation # X92-IS.

“After many years of requests for a public ice skating rink in the Bronx, we were delighted when Mayor Bloomberg announced in his 2011 State of the City address that the City would partner with the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy to convert unused tennis courts into a seasonal ice-skating rink open all winter long,” said Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe. “We hope to receive proposals from companies with a strong background in the development, operation, and maintenance of high quality temporary outdoor ice rinks, to ensure that Bronx residents can enjoy the healthful benefits of ice skating and the pleasures of a time-honored tradition in the great outdoors.”

All proposals submitted in response to this RFP must be submitted no later than Monday, May 16, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Parks will hold a site tour on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the concession site, which is located on Broadway between West 240th Street and West 242nd Street, Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx. We will be meeting in front of the Stadium at Van Cortlandt Park. All interested parties are urged to attend.

Hard copies of the RFP can be obtained, at no cost, through Monday, May 16, 2011, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays, at the Revenue Division of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, which is located at 830 Fifth Avenue, Room 407, New York, NY 10065.
