Depending on the skill of the kayaker, South Beach offers direct access to Hoffman and Swimburn islands and even Coney Island or West Bank and Old Orchard lighthouses. A beginner’s paddle would be to go south along the shoreline to Midland Beach or north to Alice Austen House.
