By Car

Henry Hudson to Dyckman (northbound Henry Hudson really lets you off on Riverside, so turn left twice).Or FDR/Harlem to northern end, then left on Dyckman.West on Dyckman to end of street (parking area).

By Mass Transit

A train or 1 train to Dyckman Street (200th Street). Walk west on Dyckman to end of street. Several bus lines run along Broadway to Dyckman.

This site is hard to spot. At the west end of Dyckman Street are a dirt road, a marina, a wooden fishing pier, and a set of playing fields (scanning from left to right, or south or north.) The launch site is just to the right (north) of the wooden fishing pier, accessed by the same gate that protects the pier.

Currents

Once you’re out of the cove, the currents on the Hudson can be strong (well over two miles per hour during the ebb tide). There is often turbulence under the George Washington Bridge and Spuyten Duyvil (mouth of the Harlem River).

1) Columbia University boathouse on the Harlem River near Inwood Hill Park (1.5 miles)
2) Peter Jay Sharp boathouse on the Harlem River at the east end of Dyckman Street (3 miles)
3) Roberto Clemente State Park on the Harlem River, Bronx side, across from the PJ Sharp Boathouse (3 miles)
4) Inwood Canoe Club, one quarter mile south of the site.
