Founded in 1848, Cypress Hills National Cemetery is the only national cemetery located in New York City and was one of the first group of national cemeteries created by Congress during the Civil War. This far-reaching weeping beech hovers over the final resting place of over 21,000 veterans and dependents including 24 recipients of the Medal of Honor.
