The lacebark pine at Wave Hill is located south of the Shade Border and west of the Aquatic Garden. The exact age of the tree is unknown since this tree predates the creation of Wave Hill as a public garden. Native to China, this tree was planted by the family estate that landscaped the property?Wave Hill estimates it was planted in the early 1900s, making it over 100 years old. Lacebark pine's bark is exfoliating and naturally breaks off as puzzle-shaped pieces to reveal a gradient of yellow, green, and silver undertones. The tree has been shaded out by surrounding trees, causing the canopy to thin..
